Taiwan Strait offshore turbine fires near COD weeks before 20-year PPA handover

On Aug 8 a 14 MW offshore turbine ~22 miles off Taiwan tripped itself on abnormal sensors, then burned; the 583 MW (42-turbine) half of a 920 MW complex was weeks from commercial handover under a 20-year fixed-price offtake. Protection worked, but root cause is open—underwriters should treat late-COD offshore fire as access, fleet-inspection, and handover-delay risk, not only a single-unit property loss. | Source: https://energiesmedia.com/turbine-fire-taiwan-strait-583-mw-farm-handover/
