On Sep 8 EPA began the final cleanup phase at Vistra’s Moss Landing BESS after the Jan 2025 fire: demolish the damaged building, treat and characterize remaining burnt batteries, then ship to RCRA facilities, with completion projected mid-2027. Large BESS fire claims now carry multi-year remediation, demolition, and specialized disposal cost tails well after the initial thermal event. | Source: https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/epa-begins-final-phase-post-fire-battery-cleanup-moss-landing
